Four fundraisers run over 80 miles from Source to Sea of the River Dee in aid of Charlie House and sporting facilities in Banchory.
Four keen runners took on the ultimate challenge in aid of Charlie House this July, completing over 80 miles in 24 hours along the River Dee from its source in the Cairngorm Mountains to its end in the sea at Aberdeen Beach. From Source to Sea!
Scott, Barry, Daniel, and Peter have inspired the team at Charlie House greatly during the build up to their challenge with their extraordinary fitness levels, can-do attitudes, and sheer determination. We are delighted that they have chosen to raise funds for us as well as supporting sporting facilities in the Banchory area.
Speaking of the Source to Sea challenge to the Press and Journal, Senior Fundraising Coordinator, Donna Deans, has said, “We are always amazed at the lengths people go to show their support for Charlie House but the Source to Sea team have left us speechless. Cheering the team in at the end point at Fittie was a really special moment. Despite the gruelling run and the rising heat, the guys were elated and the strength of their dedication and their friendship was so clear. We are beyond grateful to them.”
The team have also inspired Press and Journal writer Ben Hendry to write two fantastic articles about their journey. You can read about their warning to Royal Officials at Balmoral prior to taking on their challenge here. The challenge was an emotional journey that was a test of strength and embodied the power of friendship for the Source to Sea group. It is certainly a fundraising feat that won’t be forgotten by them, their supporters and the staff and supported families from Charlie House.
