What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid allows Charlie House, as a registered charity, to claim an additional 25% on top of your donation, at no extra cost to you. This means that for every £1 you donate, Charlie House can claim an additional 25p, increasing the total value of your donation.
How does it work?
It's simple! If you are a UK taxpayer, you can declare Gift Aid when making a donation to Charlie House, this can also be for any donations you make in the future or have made in the past 4 years. All we need is your full name and home address. When making a donation online, Gift Aid can be declared via our secure online donation platform Enthuse. If you choose to donate by phone or post, you can still enable us to claim Gift Aid by filling in our easy-to-complete online Gift Aid declaration.
Don’t forget that you can also Gift Aid your donations when you sponsor someone that is fundraising for Charlie House!

How to Gift Aid your donation:
- Online: Visit our donation page to make a donation online via Enthuse. Follow the steps by selecting the amount to donate, details, and optional message, and then check the Gift Aid declaration box to confirm that you are eligible before completing your donation.
- By Phone or Post: If you prefer to donate by phone or post, don't worry! You can still declare Gift Aid by following these steps:
a. Visit our donation page and navigate to either 'Donate by phone' or 'Donate by post'.
b. Upon following the steps to make a donation, next fill in our online Gift Aid declaration form.
c. Our fundraising team will match your declaration to your donation, ensuring that it the Gift Aid is applied to your donation.
Remember, you must have paid enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, it is your responsibility to pay any difference. If your circumstances change and you would like to cancel the Gift Aid declaration, change your name or address or no longer meet the criteria for Gift Aid, you must inform us, or HMRC, about the change.
If you pay Income Tax at the higher rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your self-assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue to adjust your tax code.
