Check out the run down of Charlie House's Fizz and Fashion 2023 event where an amazing amount of money was raised!
More than 250 people attended Charlie House’s annual Fizz and Fashion Friday on March 24 at Union Kirk, raising over £16,000 for the charity's Buy a Brick campaign, which directly supports the build of a dedicated support centre in the North-east.
Principally sponsored by Scott James & Associates, the event featured music from Right Here Productions and hosted an incredible fashion show, which boasted a mix of occasion, evening and casualwear from local businesses, Style for Your Shape, Hamish Munro and Kilts wi Hae.
The fundraising efforts are a result of general ticket sales and the event’s entertainment, which included a luxury raffle, auction, tombola and Irish bingo.
In addition to the £16,000 raised, entertainment sponsor, Maritime Developments Limited (MDL), pledged to purchase 45 virtual bricks - each worth £250 - totalling £11,250, and event guests bought a further five bricks, adding another £1,250 to the pot.
Celebrating the wonderful mums and dads who benefit from Charlie House’s services to support their children with life-limiting conditions, 13 parents took part in the fashion show which offered them a rare occasion to indulge in glitz and glamour.
Shining a light on the importance of the charity’s services, the event also showcased a video from Emma Beattie, who has used Charlie House as a support network to help create long-lasting and fulfilling memories for her daughter.
Tracy Johnstone, founder and chair of Charlie House said: “Fizz and Fashion Friday is a fantastic event to celebrate these incredible parents and highlight their strength and resilience through challenging times.
“Showcasing family stories, such as Emma’s, is not only incredibly emotional, but it reinforces the importance of building a physical Charlie House here in the North-east. Our Buy a Brick campaign helps take us closer to this goal, and we are so thankful for everyone's contributions, who have made a major difference to our fundraising targets.
“Additionally, the whole Charlie House team would like to extend a huge thank you to our primary sponsor, Scott James & Associates, our entertainment sponsor, MDL, our reception drinks sponsor, Union Kirk, and also to Compass Print, Abermedia and Balloon Studio, without whom, we would not have had such a beautifully presented and successful event.”
Charlie House launched the Buy a Brick campaign in 2022 with the aim of raising £1 million to support the Big Build Appeal, an initiative to build a dedicated support centre in the North-east for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Each brick costs £250, which can be donated through a one off payment, a monthly payment plan or through fundraising with family, friends and work teams.
