Beanbags flew, spin classes were conquered, and thanks to the generosity of Aberdeen’s local businesses, a remarkable amount of funds were raised.
The throwback Summer Sports Day, held at Kippie Lodge, saw eight teams compete in retro-themed challenges, battling for the title of 2024 Summer Sports Day champions.
Sponsored by National Gas Transmission, the day consisted of classic sports day races including 100m dash, wheelbarrow races, and the hilarious three-legged race. Some not so traditional races were also held including speed walking, haggis hurls, and a twist on the traditional egg and spoon race—the tattie and spoon race. Teams from National Gas, Balfour and Manson, Station Hotel, Charlie House, and David Lloyd battled throughout the day for points, with David Lloyd taking home the win.
Malcolm Smith, St Fergus Gas Terminal Manager from National Gas Transmission said: “I can honestly say on behalf of National Gas, that supporting the summer sports day was a pleasure! It was great to see everyone taking the time out of their day jobs to participate in the combination of new and old school sports.
It was both incredibly humbling and satisfying to know that on the day we raised over £4,000 which will go a long way with supporting the good work that Charlie House does.”
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers, participants, and sponsors for helping us put on this incredible event. If you would like to register your interest for next year’s Summer Sports Day, please complete the form below.
