Charlie House has received a £150,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation to go toward our Big Build Appeal
Charlie House is delighted to announce a £150,000 award towards our Big Build Appeal from the Wolfson Foundation.
The Big Build Appeal is a campaign to raise funds to build a specialist support facility on the grounds of Woodend Hospital. The facility will provide specialist care and support to families with children with life-limiting conditions, as well as being a host to a range of accessible and inclusive activities.
The grant from the Wolfson Foundation will go directly towards the cost of the build, contributing to the Central Nurses Station and Medical Preparation Area within the centre.
Susan Crighton, Director of Fundraising at Charlie House, says of the contribution, “We’re extremely grateful to have the Wolfson Foundation’s support. They have a reputation for building excellence through support for education, science, culture and health. Their generous donation will take us ever closer to achieving our dream of opening a specialist support facility here in Aberdeen.”
“Currently families travel more than 100 miles from Aberdeen to the nearest support facility and that isn’t acceptable. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Wolfson Foundation for supporting both the Nurses Station and Medical Preparation Area, meaning that we will be able to provide the highest standard of care to families who need it.”
Paul Ramsbottom, Chief Executive of the Wolfson Foundation adds, “Dedicated, compassionate, expert support can make a world of difference to children and young people with a life-limiting condition - and to their families. We are delighted to be supporting Charlie House in bringing this much needed facility to Aberdeen.”
