Charity aims to raise £1million through virtual brick project
Local North-east charity, Charlie House, has launched its Buy a Brick campaign to help raise £1m for its Big Build Appeal, an inspiring initiative to develop a dedicated support centre in Aberdeen for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.
To reach its target, Charlie House is looking for 4,000 virtual bricks to help raise funds for the facility. Each brick costs £250, which can be donated through a one off payment, a monthly payment plan or through fundraising with family, friends and work teams.
The total funds will then contribute to the physical foundations of the Big Build, and will allow the charity to move closer to its goal of providing vital support, services, respite and end of life care in the North-east from the purpose built facility.
Following completion, the centre will enable children and their families to make precious memories together. The plans include state-of-the-art spaces including a sensory room, spa pool, craft room, soft play area and therapy room.
Once fundraisers have bought their virtual brick, Charlie House will provide regular build updates, invites to special events and keep contributors informed about the impact of their generous support.
Susan Crighton, director of fundraising for Charlie House said: “This is an incredibly exciting project for the community to get involved in.
“As we continue our mission to build a physical Charlie House, the Buy a Brick campaign is the next step in our fundraising to help make this possible. Specifically, it is an achievable way for both groups and individuals to feel like they are really making a difference, thanks to the various fundraising streams available.
“From everyone at Charlie House, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity, spirit and involvement in our activities. We encourage anyone who would like to find out more about this campaign to get in touch.”
To spread the cost of a brick monthly, individuals can sign up to pay £21 a month for one year to reach the £250 value.
Additionally, for those who wish to get creative with fundraising themselves or by bringing a group together, Charlie House has recommended various methods including organising bake sales, pub and virtual quizzes, sponsored sporting events, or crafty calendar making.
Charlie House launched the Big Build appeal with a target of £8m to raise. The current fundraising efforts total more than £4m and the Buy a Brick campaign hopes to significantly boost this figure.
