Our Buy a Brick campaign is well underway and we have already received a number of generous donations to help us on our mission to build our very own Charlie House.
This will be a dedicated support centre in Aberdeen so that families in the North-east of Scotland don't have to travel more than 100 miles to get vital support, services, short breaks and end of life care that their children need.
If you’re keen to get involved and make a difference to the local community, we’ve shared 3 inspiring stories from incredible locals who have raised money to buy a virtual brick worth £250 - all of which are sure to give you some ideas on how you too can buy a brick!
Theo Kelman
After hearing about the Buy a Brick campaign when he met our Fundraising Team Leader, Donna at one of Charlie House’s summer shows, 10 year old Theo from Ellon decided to raise money for the cause alongside his younger brother, Max.
The boys completed the MacTuff Kids challenge in May 2022 - a 3K course at Knockhill Race Circuit through mud, water and a number of obstacles. Theo managed to raise a phenomenal £1,130 to go towards our Big Build Appeal - enough to buy four bricks!
LQC Fitness
To raise money for their brick, local exercise group LQC fitness took on the brutal Beast Race - a challenge they endure every year to raise funds for various charities. This year, the group decided to donate their money to Charlie House and support us with our Buy a Brick campaign. 20 brave participants completed the Beast Race and collectively raised £1,000 - the equivalent of four of our bricks.
Planet Tasteful
Local fashion business owner, Lynne, attended our Fizz & Fashion Friday event back in March 2022 at The Chester Hotel, and was left feeling moved and inspired by the messages shared on the day. These included speeches from Susan, our Director of Fundraising, our Founder, Tracy, and a video of Alysson - a local mum who is supported by Charlie House.
After the event, Lynne decided she would donate £5 from every one of her customers’ online purchases until she had raised enough funds to buy one of our bricks. By breaking the challenge down into something more achievable, Lynne was able to buy a Charlie House brick worth £250 in Planet Tasteful’s name, and contribute towards our life-changing facility here in Aberdeen.
