families trip to Kielder
Posted on December 31, 2014
In the October holidays the Charlie House Saturday Club organised a family activity short break to The Calvert Trust in Kielder Forest Park, Northumberland.
The Centre has specialist facilities for the disabled and their motto is "Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure". All the families tried new things, zip sliding, archery, clay pigeon shooting, climbing wall adventure, sailing, abseiling, lots more and made new friends too!!Feedback from the families has been fantastic...
“We all had the most fantastic time ever!! Who could have thought that "outdoor adventure" would go hand in hand with "the most relaxed holiday we have ever had"!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!”
“On our way home from one of the best wee holidays we've took the kids on, to see them all participating in the same activities and enjoying themselves so much is something I'll always treasure. I am so guilty of babying my daughter and maybe not always believing she can do things but not anymore, as another parent said you just need to take that little leap of faith”
“Following on from our amazing 4 days, where as a family we all tried new and at times scary things together, I have realised that that it is us as parents who have to take the leap of faith so that our little ones can reach for the stars. Seeing all our kids climbing walls (mountains to them!!!) and their pure joy on the zip wire, and kayaking up a lake will stay with me for a long time”
A big thank you to the Calvert Trust and their staff who were so patient and supportive with all our special little ones, especially when trying something new and to Shared Care Scotland for funding the trip.
If we receive more funding we are looking forward to take 28 families to Kielder next year!!
