Charity Strengthens Board with Duo Appointment
Posted on May 16, 2018
Local children’s charity Charlie House has boosted its board with the appointment of two prominent business figures.
Duo Karen Molloy and Bruce Webster have joined the board with imminent effect.
Charlie House, whose headquarters are in Albyn Place, supports babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions in the North-east of Scotland.
Karen Molloy, Co-founder and Director of Thorpe Molloy Recruitment, and Bruce Webster, former human resource director in the oil and gas industry, join the current board.
Tracy Johnstone, Chair of Charlie House says, “We welcome both Karen and Bruce to the board. They come with key skill sets to support the charity at an exciting phase of growth. We value all of our board members voluntary time and commitment and look forward to working with them.’
Tracy continues, “2018 has already been an instrumental year for Charlie House with expansion of the team, growth of our service offering, the planning phase of our specialist support centre and ultimately supporting more families in the North-east of Scotland. We look forward to sharing more news about the charity as our future plans take shape.”
Commenting on his appointment Bruce Webster says, “I was drawn to joining the board at Charlie House due to various factors, the main one being the enthusiasm and commitment of Tracy and everyone I’ve met at Charlie House. I especially liked the fact that it’s a local charity and that Aberdeen, and the wider North-east of Scotland, absolutely needs Charlie House. Knowing we are helping children and families right here is a great thing.”
Karen Molloy added, “You cannot help but be moved by the stories of the families which Charlie House support and the serious lack of support there is in the North-east. The work the team carry out to offer this support network is fantastic. Tracy is such a strong advocate for these families and being a mum myself, this really struck a chord with me. The charities long-term vision for a specialist support centre right here in Aberdeen is vital and I look forward to supporting the team on their journey to make this a reality.”
